So I have finally decided to open my mouth to the situation going on in Ferguson, Missouri. Mow lets get down to the nitty gritty… first and foremost I am going to say this, this article is my opinion based on evidence presented so far and does not reflect the opinion of anyone else at BCE. If you cannot respect my opinion as I respect yours on this highly controversial topic then DO NOT COMMENT! Continue reading

Excessive Force

All around Facebook everyone has been posting for the past two weeks or so about the death of Eric Garner. If you don’t know what I am talking about I am referring to the death of the man in NY on Staten Island who died while being arrested by police.  Continue reading

Affluenza or Misogynist?

At the start of the holiday weekend you may have heard of Elliot Rodger. He turned out to be the shooter near the UCSB campus who killed 6 people and wounded another 13 before taking his own life as police closed in. The only thing I am trying to figure out about him was did he suffer from affluenza or was he a misogynist? Maybe it was a combination of both. Continue reading

Helena Gudell’s WONDERLAND: Where Is The Love?

unnamed (3)Where Is The Love?

The past three articles posted have been about hate crimes. As I said in the first one I was raised not to hate. My grandmother told me not to hate anyone no matter what the reason or what they do to you. I have had some experiences in my life that may be better suited for our other series Spice of Life, but they are bad enough that I should hate those people. But its not just the age of the little boy that died… its the fact that it was a child in general.  Continue reading

Helena Gudell’s WONDERLAND: No H8

The original story that was put out in 1998 was that Matthew Shepard was killed because he was gay and no other reason. In one of the confessions given by Aaron it was a gay panic killing. Matthew had come on to them and they beat him out of reaction to his advances and didn’t mean to do anything. In another confession it was a robbery gone wrong. The events of that night are still in question to this day as a gay journalist has said that it has nothing to do with Matthew being gay but that it had to do with a drug deal gone wrong. I will get to the details of that shortly… Continue reading
